June in Review

So, here's how June went down .... (Hah, sounds ominous, but it's not. Oh, I guess I ruined it for you, huh? ^_-)

Some months back a Trader Joe's opened up near us. We were told it was crazy busy when it first opened. So, we waited to see what all the fuss was about. And, the first week in June, we went. It was pretty neat, and had some cool stuff, but ... it's kind of small.

Second week in June I finally broke down and upgraded my phone, and with Brian going to school this fall, we thought it would a good idea for him to have one, too. SO, we got His (black) and Hers (white)  iPhones. We had gift cards and gift money to use, plus their trade-in program, we paid less than half what one would have cost, for both of them. (It would have been nothing out of pocket, but one of our gift cards wasn't working. Boo.) They're so pretty!

Halfway through the month I went to one of my favorite stores for costume jewelry -- Charming Charlie! SO much cute stuff! I love that they have color-coded sections, so if you want a certain color item, you just go to that section and don't have to wade through unwanted colors. Sadly, the black/white bracelet broke, so I returned it (they didn't have any others there). The others are necklaces.

And last, but certainly not least, it was mine and Brian's 7th Wedding Anniversary on June 23. Seven! Brian was a dear and sent flower to my office the next day. I have never seen flowers like this. I especially like the "male dog's" top hat. So cute!

So, that was June! Of course, we did a few other fun things, like a family get-together, lunch with my parents, lovely dinners out for our anniversary, etc.

And, now that summer is upon us, do you have any fun plans? We're planning a trip to Kansas City, MO in late July, but that'll probably be it for us. Want to go to the beach again, but ... that'll probably have to wait.

Dralion

About a week and a half ago, Brian and I went to see

I have wanted to go see a Cirque du Soleil production for years and years, but the tickets were so expensive! So, I finally wised up and got on their mailing list, which not only lets you know when a production is coming to town, but also lets you buy tickets before others and usually at a discount. So, back in March, I got tickets (for a really good price for being on the 10th row) to this July's Dallas performance of Dralion.

Dralion is a melding of a Dragon and a Lion (sort of an East meets West thing, I think?), but also, this particular show was about man against or working with nature. So, of course, some of the main characters were the 4 elements.

However, there were also some hilarious clowns to entertain throughout the show (and they kept picking on an "audience member").

However, one of my favorite acts was this juggler.

Uhm, not only was he extremely athletic and talented (juggling a gazillion balls at a time), but he was also totally cute! *LOL* I know, I know, I'm such a dork. Okay, so maybe some of it's the makeup, so sue me. (No, really, without the makeup he's cute too!)

But, my favorite, favorite act was the ribbon dancers!

*dreamy sigh* They were just wonderful! The dance was so sensual, yet tasteful, beautiful, romantic, dreamy, athletic (again, I mean, come on, ALL of these people are athletic -- check out the muscles!). So pretty!

It's just amazing to me what the human body is capable of. There were some amazing athletes that could do crazy things with their bodies! It really left me with my mouth hanging open in awe and surprise a lot of the time. I will say the storyline was a little weak, but, I've heard that's a little common, and that Dralion's is especially loose, but that's okay. I definitely want to see another one!!

The only thing bad I have to say is that the arena was a little warm (and this particular arena is where local hockey games are played, so you KNOW they can keep it cold in there if they want to), and the seats were really uncomfortable. I should have brought a pillow. But, that's not Cirque's fault. *shrug*

Highly recommend it, if you've never been!

(Oh, and this was our late 5-year wedding anniversary gift to each other. ^_^ We then had dinner at IHop! *LOL* I know, so not romantic for 5 years, but we both had to rush home after work to go, and we didn't have time for dinner before, and nothing much was open after, so .... Still enjoyed it, though. ^_^)

3rd Wedding Anniversary

Happy Anniversary (2009)

Brian and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary yesterday. (I made him the card seen above. I really like the button! ^_^ Well, I guess button no more as I had to cut off the shank.)

The day started off with me cooking him breakfast. Nothing fancy, just the yummiest potato and egg breakfast tacos (with these new tortillas we found which are raw and you just cook them on the skillet yourself). We basically then hung around the place and watched movies. Then we exchanged gifts. We try not to go overboard with spending on anniversary gifts and we usually give each other a limit. Right now it was a little smaller than usual (we're thinking of maybe buying a new TV soon so trying to save elsewhere), and I got him the new Sanderson single-shot fantasy book, and he got me two sets of scrapbooking pens. I know, you're thinking sarcastically "ooo, pens," but, see I had a set of these pens once, and it went missing. Brian used to borrow them to mark his scriptures (because the set has many colors) and he thinks he may have accidentally left them at church. So, he got me a larger set with the many colors, and then a smaller set with black and primary colors (which he will borrow from time to time). To give you context: I now his gift cost more than mine. Hah!

I did want to comment that Brian wrote me the SWEETEST letter, instead of a card. He says that he knows I hate wordy cards (I do), and that his one attempt at making one was cheesy (his words) and so he thought heartfelt words would be better. They were! Melted my heart. *dreamy sigh*

ANYWAY, we then went to one of our FAVORITE restaurants for dinner: Tokyo One. It's an all-you-can-eat sushi (and more) restaurant. It's awesome! And, we ate SO much last night, we were stuffed! Even though it's reasonably priced, it's still a bit more than we spend out, so it was a treat! So yummy! (I especially love their white tuna ... mmmmm .....)

It was such a nice, peaceful day, full of loving. I can't believe that it's been 3 years! Sometimes it feels like it hasn't been that long, and other times it feels like we've been together for many more. My Brian-chan is the sweetest, most adoring husband, but better yet, he's my best friend and he completely gets ME. *hearts*

Brian and I met.

Sometimes it doesn't feel like it's been five years. Other times, it feels like we've known each other for ages. Little did I know that when he first hugged me hello, my life would go in a direction that I didn't think it would. He has taught me the true meaning of friendship, which helped me see those that were truly my friends in my life. He loves to help -- especially me. But he will always be willing to help another, even if he doesn't know them.

I love that we can be silly together (because often we are), and I love how he supports me through my many endeavors (regardless of whether he understands them, or not).

So even though it was an April Fool's Day, I'm glad there was no tricking that day ... since it's led to the life I have now. (I could go on, but I'll save some gushing for our Wedding Anniversary.)
